An ISO file is a digital copy of a physical CD or DVD. ISO files are useful when a disc needs to be shared with multiple parties, or with someone at a different location. Additionally, if you are on a computer that does not have a CD or DVD drive (such as many netbooks), you can still access data stored on optical media. If you are transferring an ISO to another person or computer, one easy way to do so is to use a type of USB removable media, such as a flash drive or external hard drive.
Instructions 1 Insert the USB flash drive or USB hard drive cable into a USB port on the computer.
2 Open Windows Explorer by double-clicking "Computer" or by holding the Windows key and pressing "E."
Locate the ISO file you would like to copy to the flash drive or external hard drive.
4 Right-click on the ISO file and click "Copy."
5 Click on the removable USB device in the left-side bar of the Windows Explorer window.
6 Right-click in the USB device's window in Windows Explorer and click "Paste" to paste the ISO file to the USB device.
